The Microsoft Most Valuable Professional (MVP) Program was started in the mid 1990s as a way to recognise those members of the general public who devoted their time and considerable computing skills, on a voluntary basis, to helping users 'in distress' in the various newsgroups hosted by Microsoft. There are now around 1800 MVPs worldwide who actively participate in the Microsoft Technical Newsgroups. Many are IT consultants, some are published authors or technical instructors, and there are those who have no formal training but have an in-depth level of practical experience.

Allow 3rd party themes in Windows XP

By default 3rd party 'visual styles' are prevented from use on Windows XP because they have not been digitally signed. To get around this you will need to install Style XP or replace a system file, more details on this can be found here

You can download the current version of Style XP here which supports the original and service pack 1 versions of Windows XP. When service pack 2 is released you will need to repatch your dll file or upgrade to a newer version of style xp.

New themes can be downloaded from http://www.themexp.org

Each theme should contain instructions for its proper use, on Windows XP SP1 should you encounter 'Value creation failed" at line 472" error when add/remove programs is opened' click here to find details on how to correct this.
